Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week (AVIFW) 2021 made a triumphant return to Ho Chi Minh City on December 21st, after the fourth outbreak of COVID-19 forced the event to postpone. This 11th edition of AVIFW was one of the largest of its kind in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region, ranking fourth after Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai international fashion weeks. The theme of the three-day show, “Shining Life,” represented hope and optimism for 2022 and showcased the latest collections by Vietnamese designers, including Hoang Hai, Adrian Anh Tuan, Le Long Dung, Dang Trong Minh Chau, Ivan Tran, Nguyen Tien Truyen, Devon Nguyen, Hoang Quyen, and Quy Cao, as well as international fashion brands Elisabetta Franchi, I Hate Fashion, Tracy Studio, and Metiseko.
We were honored to participate in AVIFW 2021 and felt it was the perfect time to debut our newest silk collection, Twinkling Night. The show took place on December 22nd at Capital Studio, with 13 looks for women and 7 looks for men. It was the first occasion that Metiseko featured embroidered apparel on the runway, including 3 couture, fully-embellished headwear, handmade exclusively for AVIFW 2021. Our vision for Twinkling Night was brought to life with the help of Hanoia, a high-end accessory brand from Hanoi. Nic Ford, a pioneer of the Saigon underground electronic music scene, produced the show’s background music, and Mr. Nam shared the stage with our models as he performed live traditional drumming. Ms. Thu Anh, the muse of the Twinkling Night campaign, was the show’s first face, while Ms. Binh, a Metiseko favorite who starred in our previous campaigns, played the vedette.
The Vietnamese press admired how we transported the audience to Hoi An with the music, drumming, and our Twinkling Night colors and prints, which gave tribute to the Thu Bon River, lion dances, and incense bouquets. Overall, they complimented Metiseko’s ability to weave an enchanting story through the collection’s East-meets-West style that defines our brand.
