Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week (AVIFW) Fall/Winter 2022 took place in Hanoi, from November 23rd to November 27th. Themed “Taste of Heritage,” the shows highlighted Vietnam’s traditional culture, playing in perfect harmony to our use of the country’s artistic and artisanal heritage in all our collections. Since inception, Metiseko has been absolutely committed to preserving the country’s traditions, utilizing carefully-selected natural materials and incorporating the use of experienced Vietnamese artisans and their unique craftsmanship in our collection designs.

On November 26th at Quan Ngua Sports Palace, Metiseko was honored to present, once again, at AVIFW. This time, debuting our new VERTICALE HANOI collection one month before the official launch in stores and online. The show presented 26 looks - 19 for women and 7 for men - and included couture creations designed exclusively for the AVIFW runway, stunning styles from the new collection, and several uniquely-embellished pieces.

THE COLLECTION

VERTICALE HANOI is a sophisticated, retro-Asian collection that combines chic and iconic cuts in luxurious silk for dramatic fall, airy flowingness and magnificent luster. The contemporary styles highlight the modern female: an ultra-feminine, naturally seductive woman whose curves recall the harmonious undulations of the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.

THE COLLABORATIONS

For the AVIFW F/W 2022 show, we partnered with Leinne, a sustainable luxury brand, to create embellished hats that complete several looks from the VERTICALE HANOI collection. Metiseko also collaborated with Nga Duong of Duong Jewelry, a Milan-based Vietnamese jewelry designer, to accessorize outfits for the fashion show.

THE MODELS

We booked Trang Bui as the vedette of the show, as she is our muse and main actor for the VERTICALE HANOI campaign. Born in 1995, Bui Thi Thu Trang is known in the industry for her confidence and charisma. All other runway models were hand-picked faces from BeU agency.

THE MUSIC

The accompanying music was created exclusively for the show. Indy Laville, a musician from HCMC, composed the electronic base following the show’s flow of colors, shapes and styles. From there, three artists collaborated to ensure the electronic base, the live zither played by Hoai Anh and the dance performance were not only in sync, but highlighted specific looks and moments. The mix of electronic music and traditional Vietnamese zither parallels the collection’s paradox of heritage and modernity.

THE DANCER

Born in Hanoi and raised in France, Tran Quoc Dung is a multidisciplinary artist who settled in his birth country in 2007. His contemporary dance performance during the METISEKO x AVIFW 2022 show combines elements of traditional martial arts and contemporary dance, another parallel to the VERTICALE HANOI paradox. Dung’s captivating photos of Long Bien Bridge were also used during the show as background illustration.

“He climbed up there more than 20 times, at different hours and seasons, in order to capture a maximum of situations. By portraying the 100 year-old bridge [...] Dung intends ‘to restore original emotions by bringing to everyone’s eyes a part of their own beauty.’”
