VIETNAMESE WOMEN’S DAY

Every year on this day, Vietnam celebrates and gives thanks to women. Established on October 20, 1930, following the creation of the Women’s Union, Women’s Day reminds us of the significant contributions of the country’s brave females who gathered and fought for Vietnam’s independence alongside their male compatriots. To honor their valor and continued service to their country, ladies receive gifts, flowers, and words of gratitude from those around them.

ABOUT WOMEN IN VIETNAM

Vietnam ranks 51st in the world, 4th in Asia and first in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in terms of the rate of female MPs.

Vietnam topped the global average with 39% of mid-sized company leadership positions held by women (a 6% increase from 2020). Thus, Vietnam ranks 3rd in the world (out of the 29 countries surveyed) and 2nd in Asia-Pacific.

Vietnam has put in place the necessary legal mechanisms for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women, including the Gender Equality Law, the Domestic Violence Prevention and Control Law, the law on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and the National Strategy for Gender Equality,.Similarly, and thanks to the measures taken by the Vietnamese Government, the country has the highest rate in Southeast Asia of women participating in both the economic and political sectors. Vietnamese women not only represent a nearly equal share of the labor force.

This is evidenced by the rate of women deputies in the National Assembly of the 15th legislature, which exceeded 30%.
